Shri Kanchi Sankara Hospital OP Clinic at Silchar, Assam - A report

The Out patient clinic of Sri Kanchi Sankara Super Speciality Hospital was inaugurated at the District Sports Authority (DSA) Stadium complex, Silchar, Assam on 5th Dec 2008 by Union Minister for Heavy Industries with the Blessings of the Sri Sankaracharya Swamiji.

Dr D P Paul (Retd Jt Dir Health Services, Hailakandi) heads the OP division. Out patient services are available morning and evening for six days a week including sunday for benefit of the people. The services have been functioning without break since then, including during monsoon and summer holidays. Dr Paul can be reached at 9435171302. More than 2500 people with illness have been benefited by the regular General Medical and Specialities available. Prescription medicines are distributed free. In line with the thinking and non-profit activities of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, BPL patients get free treatment.

In April 2010, even during monsoon and cyclone days, 40 patients attended. Periodic camps are being conducted in and around Silchar, taking the benefit of health care to the door step. This idea is to benefit the poorer sections especially womenfolk as well as children who frequently are not able to complete housework before taking care of their health.
